?Deserted NRI brides should get hubby‘s assets?

JALANDHAR: Former Union minister , who has been raising the issue of NRIs deserting their wives, has welcomed the process of revoking passports of such men. He says that the next step should be that the deserted wives get share of properties of their husbands back home and also part of their income abroad.

Ramoowalia, who was part of the inter-ministerial expert panel to tackle the issue, said that it was a long-awaited initiative and praised external affairs Sushma Swaraj for it. He also praised the regional passport officers in Amritsar and Chandigarh for their proactive approach on the issue to help the victims. He said that Chanidgarh-based social activist Rupali was also actively working for extending help to the victims reaching regional passport office in Chandigarh. TNN
